The chance to win a brand new house, car and $150,000 cash is up for grabs in Marietta.
The prizes are part of the HGTV show “Smart Home,” hosted by designer Tiffany Brooks. Brooks transforms ordinary homes into high-tech, luxurious pads and gives them away to one lucky winner, or family of winners, every year.
The 2024 smart home was brought to the Gem City, giving anyone over the age of 21 the chance to win the 2,400-square-foot, four-bedroom home, an all-electric EQE SUV from Mercedes-Benz and the cash prize, now through June 10.
Brooks said the show takes houses to the next level, through sustainable features, functional design and high-tech appliances.
The Marietta smart home is filled with skylights and windows to provide extra natural light that cuts down on the need for excess electrical use, has TVs that double as art pieces, an expanded exterior to increase access to the outdoors and even a “smart” bed.
“The bed conforms to how you want to sleep. You can set your comfort setting, either firm or soft or your sleep number, and then you can also lift and lower the bed. It also has LED reading lights, Bluetooth connectivity in the headboard itself, and you can also open and close your drapery from an app on your phone in your bed,” Brooks said.
Much of the house can be controlled by the phone, including the garage doors, temperature and lighting.
“Basically, you can have a relationship with your home through your phone,” Brooks said.
The 2024 smart home was designed in Marietta, Brooks said, because it’s the perfect location.
“We dig in and envision ‘where would I want to live, if I had my pick of the litter?’” Brooks said. “It has a lot to do with neighborhood, distance from the airport, social activities to do, how it feels for a family to live there ... where are the best schools? All of that creates a recipe for a smart home.”
The winner will be notified that their dream home has become a reality in mid-July. Brooks said in the past, the winners have always entered their name into the lottery several times.
Contestants can enter to win twice a day, every day at: HGTV.com/smart.
